Switch to the next generation of driving power
Explore how our award-winning range of innovative hybrid and electric cars look to the future by building on our outstanding progress in efficiency, range and flexibility. Making it that much easier for you to now make the switch to alternative fuels.
Hybrid
Hybrid cars have a regular combustion engine at their heart that’s assisted to varying degrees by an electric motor to achieve low emissions. The batteries that power the motor are charged by the engine and via regenerative braking. ‘Plug-in’ hybrid models have larger batteries that can also be charged from the mains for extra range. They can run on electric power alone in order to achieve zero emission driving.
Electric
Electric cars are petrol / diesel free and run solely on battery powered electric motors for zero emission driving. The batteries are charged via a mains supply and through regenerative braking. Continual advances have greatly extended their driving range, boosted their torque, reduced charging times and established a better recharging infrastructure. NEXO is a vision of tomorrow which uses a hydrogen fuel cell stack as a power source rather than a mains supply.
Hybrid and electric cars have come of age and are being embraced by local and national government initiatives.
As an increasing number of cities impose congestion charges and low emissions zones in order to protect their air quality, certain hybrid and electric cars are a way to protect your ability to travel in these areas.
Discover the combined powers of Hybrid
What a big difference a small electric motor makes when working in tandem with a traditional combustion engine. Add to this mix our dedication to technological progress and it all adds up to a ground-breaking range of hybrid cars for you.

Battery assist (also known as MHEV or 48V hybrid)
Primarily powered by a combustion engine, with electric support.
A mild hybrid feels like a normal combustion engine powered car, however it is able to run on electric when decelerating or whilst stopped - conserving fuel at regular intervals on your daily drive. It’s an enhancement over traditional start & stop technology as it is able to switch to electric before the car comes to a complete stop, and then assist the engine when accelerating. Fast and smooth engine restarts make it perfect for city traffic.
Dual power (also known as HEV or hybrid)
The petrol engine and electric motor work in unison for enhanced performance.
In a self-charging hybrid car, an electric motor provides a boost to the engine during acceleration and can even power the car completely in certain situations such as cruising at a constant speed. The battery gets its power from regenerative braking when the vehicle slows or from the combustion engine.
Battery optimised (also known as PHEV)
Hybrid capable of zero emission driving for short journeys
A plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that needs to be charged using an external power source such as a home charging point or public charging station. The combination of combustion engine and large capacity battery allows you to make local journeys using mostly the electric motor for extremely low or even zero CO2 emission driving with engine providing the range for big trips.
