Added: 25 January 2018
Volkswagen is celebrating an award-winning start to 2018 after the Touran retained its ‘Best MPV’ crown at the What Car? Awards 2018, for a third year in a row.
The event took place on Tuesday 23 January, marking the 40th year of the awards.
Speaking about the repeat success of the Touran, judges said: “All of our finalists have their plus points, but the Touran remains the most well-rounded multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on sale. Family buyers may be flocking to SUVs these days, but the Touran shows there’s still life in this class yet.”
Volkswagen also enjoyed success in the ‘Best hybrid car £25,000-£50,000’ category, with the Passat GTE Advance beating a competitive field.
The new T-Roc was commended for its driver assistance technology and was one of three finalists in the ‘safety award’. The judges commented: “The T-Roc is the safest small SUV you can buy right now, which is a real achievement in this ever-expanding market.”
